For more than 50 years, GS1 standards have enabled organisations to uniquely identify, describe and track anything (products, locations, assets and more), creating greater trust in data for everyone. Information is commonly captured in a barcode which when scanned, shares information between systems and organisations.

Connecting Physical Products with the Digital World
QR codes powered by GS1 take the capability of the traditional barcode even further by connecting the physical product with the digital world. Scannable by smartphones and at the point of sale, QR codes powered by GS1 provide a gateway to even more product information without having to print everything on pack.
They hold all the traditional information needed to trade including the GS1 GTIN®, batch number, serial number and expiry date but also provide a link to multiple online sources such as access to product ingredients, allergens, recipes, rewards, promotions and more.
This data not only helps product owners improve their own operations by enhancing transparency, improving inventory management, and simplifying recalls and returns, but also provides a way for business to deliver connected consumer experiences.
